Bringing Brazil to NYC

In celebration of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, Citibank wanted to bring a taste of Brazil to New York. Challenged to design a seven-day immersive experience open to the public and free of charge, Revolution cultivated “Rio on the Hudson.” Held at the scenic Pier 26, our extravaganza combined extensive cultural research, authentic programming, catered Brazilian fare, and transformative builds to make even the most seasoned traveler feel right at home.

Rio Experience

We dedicated ourselves to converting the end of the pier into a Rio beach experience, where attendees could play games, relax in the sand, and enjoy the spectacular view.  Guests were surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of Brazil with custom fabricated Citi branding integrated seamlessly throughout the space.  Our authentic Churrascaria enticed visitors to taste traditional Brazilian food and beverages to enjoy while sunbathing next to rustling palm trees of the Amazon.

Let the Games Begin

A dramatic kick-off event celebrated the start of the games with our very own Olympic Cauldron lighting.

More than 25,000 people visited the space over seven days, including a few U.S. Olympians like Christine Rampone and Mia Hamm.  The weeklong experience was ripe with a variety of activities, from Olympic-themed games like a golf simulator and ten-meter dash, to a full outdoor stage with Brazilian artists, drummers, and dancers.
